Day 2: Auckland, Waiheke Island

After a full night's sleep the jetlag was finally gone and we set out to Waiheke island at noon. While we were waiting for the ferry I took the opportunity to test the icecream at Valentino's (in the Ferry Building) and I can recommend it to you wholeheartedly. Excellent! Waiheke island was excellent as well. It's only a cheap 30 minutes ferry ride from AKL and offer's nice & easy walkways for airplane-damaged legs. Beautiful landscape and coastline, we were almost alone on the tracks although it was saturday in the holiday season. In the afternoon even the weather played along, the clouds vanished and that's why I have to get some after-sun lotion for my burning neck right now. And some food of course. I mean lots of food since New Zealand will practically be closed for three days now with Sunday plus two public holidays coming up. Talking of food: Burger Fuel in Parnell Rd still exists and still serves excellent burgers. The Chocolate Boutique is also still ve

Paradise City

I`ve finally arrived in Auckland where everything seems to be just the way I left it here nearly three years ago. Actually, I`m way to hungry at the moment to go into much detail. Suffice to say that the second leg of my flight (with Cathay Pacific from HK to AKL) was okayish, but Asian Airlines seem incapable of a) getting the special meals thing working and b) of distributing and removing food trays quickly. Which kinda contradicts common prejudices about them being efficient as hell. On the positive side: nearly all the flight attendants had long black hair so at least the eye was pleased while the stomach was dying. I`ve just fallen in love with the University of Auckland`s City Campus, beautiful! Would somebody please offer me a job there? ;-)

Von der Maas bis an die Memel:

Doitsche Bahn muss sterben. Aber immer der Reihe nach. Live from the business class lounge at Hong Kong Airport. Luxury is bliss. 0. Cologne: Unfortunately my friend suddenly got struck by flight panic (or whatever is the correct term) and could not make the flight. Which is why I'm travelling alone again. And probably why there will be more f-words to come in this log ... . So, Wednesday, Cologne train station, 8:45am: train to Amsterdam will be at least 60 minutes late. FUCK YOU. Luckily Daniela was able to drive me to Amsterdam so I did not have to rent a car to get there. Nota bene: If you have an urgent appointment/have to be on time then don't rely on Deutsche Bahn. 0.1: Schiphol Airport: Okayish. But those security idiots still don't know how to handle those dangerous liquids properly. Fuck you too. 1. Amsterdam - Hong Kong with KLM: good food, mediocre entertainment only though. And too many French people on the plane. And only blonde women! What a downer. 2. Hong K

Kiwi pornography

I'm not there yet (still abusing my parents' computer), but I've found some highly illegal dating and porn sites that I wanted to bring to your attention. Here you can find single kiwi women looking for males, complete with pictures and all: New Zealand Dating Site . This site is not really illegal in new Zealand, but still quite controversial. Another site though is definitely outlawed down under, just take a look at New Zealand Sex Toys and you'll know why, it's gross. Last but not least there's classic porn, i.e. naked women, as well, take at look at these two porn sites ( 1 , 2 ) for example. To finish off: There are even sex slave auctions on the net. This again proves that the WWW is full of dirt and that Wolfgang Schäuble need to be installed on all of our computers to protect us from international pornterrorism!

Gloom of the grave

Does your banner still wave?

Und die Antwort lautet: Sir, yes Sir! Was für eine fantastische Hinrunde. Who would have thought? Die Voraussetzungen waren ungünstig: Viele WM-Fahrer. Micoud weg. Who cares? Zwischendurc

And if a ten-ton truck kills the both of us ...

... well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine. End of the year, but no depression in sight. All I have to do right now is: finish that chapter of my dissertation, clean up my flat, pack my bags, and then I'm off to New Zealand. I got about 36 hours to finish my stuff here. Lovely. The goal of my journey is: get into Mordor, kiss Live Tyler, destroy the Ring, punch Sam, and then die of boredom. No, wait, that was the other one. In reality, the goal is: find a beautiful sheep, marry her, and live happily ever after. Sounds good, eh? And it has economic benefits as well: since merino wool is so nice and warm I won't need to pay Gazprom for heating my flat in winter anymore.
